Mr. Platinum has brought a deeply personal story to a universal celebration of love with \u201cButtercup 26,\u201d his new reggae release featuring Shanead Sims and Brawvo X.<\/p>\n
Released as a single and album on Sept. 26, the project carries the \u201cfeel-good spirit of its central message, \u2018It\u2019s simple \u2014 Is Love alone,\u2019 while honoring the influence of his father, Saint Lucian cultural music icon Hubert Breeze\u2019 Fevrier,\u201d according to Caribbean entertainment publicist Flair Lindsey of Acclaim PR.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She told <\/span>Caribbean Life on Tuesday, Sept. 5, that \u201cButtercup 26\u201d is already making a splash on Caribbean and US radio stations, with airplay from DJ Supa Neil on KTSU 90.9 FM The Vibe in Houston, Tx and a premiere by Coco Filipina, a prominent media personality, radio DJ, and music tastemaker, on \u201cThe Culture\u201d on Hot 97.9 FM in the Carolinas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThat early exposure introduces listeners to a record whose romantic warmth also embraces love for family, heritage and the music itself,\u201d Lindsey said.<\/span><\/p>\n Mr. Platinum said while \u201cButtercup 26\u201d came from his own journey, \u201cthe feeling belongs to everybody.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIf you hear the song, and it makes you think about something or someone you truly love, then it did what it was supposed to do,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Lindsey said that behind the title is a tribute that reaches beyond the release year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She said Breeze\u2019s birthday is June 26, \u201cmaking June 26, 2026, a meaningful 06-26-26 for father and son.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n As his father\u2019s health declined, Lindsey said Mr. Platinum sought \u201ca lasting way to preserve his presence within the record.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe number became a permanent connection to the man whose guidance helped shape his musical identity,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhen you see Buttercup 26, I want that number to always carry a piece of Hubert \u2018Breeze\u2019 Fevrier with it,\u201d Mr. Platinum said. \u201cYes, the record arrived in 2026, but 26 is bigger than the year. It\u2019s his day. It\u2019s his footprint. It\u2019s part of the legacy.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Born Thomas Fevrier, Mr. Platinum said he grew up within a family deeply connected to Saint Lucian music and culture.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n He said his father founded and led Rebel Rockers, giving him an early foundation in music, storytelling and artistic standards.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Mr. Platinum said Breeze also encouraged him to develop his own sound, a lesson Mr. Platinum carries into the reggae melodies and messages that speak most directly to him.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n He said the consciousness and identity in the music of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh further informed that connection during his formative years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMy father taught me to find my own sound, find my own lane, and be the absolute best I can be while doing it,\u201d Mr. Platinum said. \u201cSo, for me, continuing his legacy means taking what was given to me, making it my own, and passing it forward.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Lindsey said that continuity is also reflected in the \u201cTI KWA\u201d video, \u201cwhich brings Breeze\u2019s music to new audiences and depicts a symbolic passing of the torch to Mr. Platinum.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIts creation connects three generations: Breeze at the center, his son helping bring the visual to life, and his grandson Yondre of Louis Lane Creative contributing to its production,\u201d Lindsey said. \u201c\u2019Buttercup 26\u2019 carries that family connection into Mr. Platinum\u2019s own musical chapter.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe new record retains some verses and elements of the original \u2018Buttercup,\u2019 but its purpose evolved as Breeze\u2019s health declined,\u201d she added.<\/span><\/p>\n Mr. Platinum described a song that became \u201cwarmer, more loving and more universal, with new voices and energy supporting its storytelling.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThat transformation led him to present \u2018Buttercup 26\u2019 as a new single with its own identity,\u201d said Lindsey, adding that \u201cButtercup 26\u201d draws on \u201cfamily heritage and an artistic connection formed in Houston.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Lindsey said Brawvo X, Mr. Platinum\u2019s cousin and the son of former Saint Lucian Cultural Queen Phyllis Roma Wilson, shares his Saint Lucian roots while pursuing a distinct musical path.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n She said Shanead Sims, who joined creative forces with Mr. Platinum in Houston, lends her vocal artistry to \u201cButtercup 26,\u201d \u201chelping transform his personal reflections into a shared expression of love.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n For Mr. Platinum, Lindsey said the lasting appeal of \u201cButtercup 26\u201d lies in its ability to \u201cconnect his personal journey with the everyday experiences of its listeners \u2014 from the joy of falling in love to the sacrifices made for family and the memories that keep loved ones close.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIts warm reggae melodies carry a message that reaches beyond romance, embracing the love of music, community and home that continues to shape his artistry,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cLove for the music.
