Jamaican dancehall star and Def Jam Recordings artist Masicka has released his highly anticipated third studio album, Forever Reign.<\/p>\n
Distributed by Def Jam Recordings, the 17-track project marks \u201cthe latest evolution of an artist whose uncompromising lyricism, storytelling and ambition have helped establish him as one of the leading voices of his generation,\u201d said Jamaican entertainment publicist Ronnie Tomlinson.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cAcross Forever Reign, Masicka reflects on faith, survival, ambition, success, loyalty and the sacrifices behind his journey,\u201d said Tomlinson, a Brooklyn resident and CEO of Destine Media, Inc. \u201cThe album brings together the sharp lyricism and introspection that have long defined his music while showcasing an artist increasingly comfortable with the magnitude of the space he occupies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n For Masicka, the title itself is a declaration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cForever Reign means I\u2019m here to stay. Yes, there\u2019s room for everyone, but my lane is carved out, and we\u2019re going to soak up the space,\u201d he said. \u201cThe most important thing is to stay humble and focused.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Tomlinson said the project features collaborations with Damian \u201cJr. Gong\u201d Marley, Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez, dancehall artist Kraff Gad and reggae singer Lila Ik\u00e9, while production throughout the album includes contributions from longtime collaborator Mario \u201cDunw3ll\u201d Dunwell, Dre Skull, Stephen \u201cDi Genius\u201d McGregor, Supa Dups, IzyBeats, Dready, Telz, Razzy and others.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Tomlinson said the album opens with \u201c1 Psalm,\u201d a collaboration with Marley that \u201cimmediately establishes the spiritual foundation underlying Forever Reign.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Masicka describes the record as both a prayer and a reminder of the importance of seeking guidance, protection and forgiveness amid life\u2019s challenges.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cOne prayer a day, if we can pray and ask God to forgive us for our sins and protect us, then we\u2019re good,\u201d Masicka said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The collaboration with Marley carries additional significance for Masicka, who describes \u201c1 Psalm\u201d as \u201ca powerful, spiritual and motivational record.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Tomlinson said the pairing brings together two distinctive Jamaican voices across generations, \u201cunited by a message grounded in faith, perseverance and purpose.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Elsewhere, she said Forever Reign moves between \u201cintrospection and intensity.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Tomlinson said \u201cOak Tree,\u201d \u201cPointless,\u201d \u201cShakazulu,\u201d \u201cSpend,\u201d \u201cGood,\u201d \u201cSlip and Slide,\u201d \u201cBoasty,\u201d \u201cCross the Waters,\u201d \u201cWicked Spell,\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s Not Too Late,\u201d \u201cAK Fire,\u201d \u201cTime and Palace,\u201d \u201cBreaking Chains\u201d and \u201cParables\u201d further expand the album\u2019s themes and sonic range.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n On \u201cHonor Roll,\u201d Tomlinson said Masicka joins forces with rising dancehall artist Kraff Gad, \u201can artist whose hunger and distinctive approach remind Masicka of his own early years.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cHis style is different, and he reminds me of myself when I was coming up and hungry,\u201d Masicka said. \u201cAll of the young youths are bad, and I respect anybody brave enough to embark on this journey.
