{"id":5971,"date":"2026-07-07T20:37:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T20:37:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/islandflavaradio.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/07\/jamaican-dancehall-artist-kranium-earns-second-riaa-gold-certification\/"},"modified":"2026-07-07T20:37:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T20:37:10","slug":"jamaican-dancehall-artist-kranium-earns-second-riaa-gold-certification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/islandflavaradio.com\/index.php\/2026\/07\/07\/jamaican-dancehall-artist-kranium-earns-second-riaa-gold-certification\/","title":{"rendered":"Jamaican dancehall artist Kranium earns second RIAA gold certification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With more than a billion global streams across his catalog and a decade of consistently bridging dancehall, reggae, and R&amp;B for international audiences, Kranium has reached another career-defining milestone.<\/p>\n<p><span>The Jamaican hitmaker has earned his second RIAA Gold certification as a lead artist, as his global single \u201cWe Can,\u201d featuring Tory Lanez, has been certified gold in the United States, according to Jamaican-born, Brooklyn-based entertainment publicist Ronnie Tomlinson.<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe achievement makes Kranium one of the few contemporary dancehall artists to secure multiple RIAA Gold certifications as the lead artist on his own records,\u201d Tomlinson, CEO of New York\u2019s Destine Media, Inc., told <\/span>Caribbean Life<span> on Tuesday, June 30.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cIt also underscores his continued commercial impact in the US market, where Caribbean music has long influenced mainstream culture but where lead dancehall records rarely achieve gold certification,\u201d she added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Unlike certifications earned through guest appearances or supporting collaborations, Tomlinson said both of Kranium\u2019s US gold plaques recognize songs he led as the primary artist: \u201cNobody Has To Know\u201d and \u201cWe Can.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe distinction highlights his ability to build an international audience around his own catalog while helping expand dancehall\u2019s global commercial footprint,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Kranium said that, \u201ccoming from Jamaica, you dream about taking our music to every corner of the world, but you also carry the responsibility of representing the culture the right way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cTo receive a second RIAA Gold plaque as the lead artist means everything, because these are records that started with my vision and my story,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a blessing to know that music from Jamaica can continue connecting with people everywhere,\u201d he added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Tomlinson said the new certification follows the success of \u201cNobody Has To Know,\u201d the breakout single that introduced Kranium\u2019s signature melodic blend of dancehall, reggae and R&amp;B to audiences worldwide.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She said the record previously earned RIAA Gold status in the United States and has continued to drive Kranium\u2019s international momentum.<\/span><span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis isn\u2019t just my win.
