Roadblock Radio, one of the leading voices in Caribbean broadcasting in New York and New Jersey, has expanded to WZMX 93.7 FM-HD3 in Hartford, Connecticut. This will bring its dynamic mix of reggae, dancehall, Soca, and Kompa to new listeners across the state.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kacy “G City” Rankine, the Jamaican-born founder and CEO of Roadblock Radio, told Caribbean Life on Monday, Oct. 27, that the expansion marks “a major step forward for Caribbean Radio in the tri-state area. <\/span><\/p>\n

“Caribbean Radio is actually bigger now than it has ever been,” he said. “We now have two 24-hour Caribbean stations in the tri-state. That has never happened here before.” <\/span><\/p>\n

Rankine said the new FM signal in Hartford extended the station’s existing platforms on WCBS 101.1 FM HD3 in New York, New Jersey, and WMXJ 102.7FM HD3 in South Florida. <\/span><\/p>\n

“Radio is evolving,” he said. “It’s not just reggae radio or Soca radio anymore; It’s one Caribbean, one music. And that’s what Roadblock is all about \u2013 blazing n Caribbean vibes 24-7.” <\/span><\/p>\n

Rankine said listeners tuning in to 93.7 FM-HD3 in Connecticut can expect Roadblock’s trademark mix of reggae, dancehall, Soca, Afrobeats, and Kompa. <\/span><\/p>\n

“This will be complemented with discussions about politics and current affairs, entertainment news, and cultural features that connect listeners from Hartford to Brooklyn to South Florida,” he said. <\/span><\/p>\n

Rankine said Roadblock’s expansion coincides with the launch of “The Morning Grind,” a new weekday morning show hosted by broadcasters Sandy Daley, Ian “Da Goose,” and David Shepherd, set to debut <\/span>on Nov. 3<\/span><\/strong>. <\/span><\/p>\n

“‘The Morning Grind’ combines the Tri-state’s top talents,” he said. We will bring news, views, and great music. The region needs that kind of energy.” <\/span><\/p>\n
