{"id":5817,"date":"2025-09-10T14:09:21","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T14:09:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/islandflavaradio.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/10\/mr-vegas-drops-ghetto-reggae\/"},"modified":"2025-09-10T14:09:21","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T14:09:21","slug":"mr-vegas-drops-ghetto-reggae","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/islandflavaradio.com\/index.php\/2025\/09\/10\/mr-vegas-drops-ghetto-reggae\/","title":{"rendered":"Mr. Vegas drops \u2018Ghetto Reggae\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">International reggae and dancehall star Mr. Vegas is taking fans back to the heart of his musical journey with the release of his highly anticipated album &#8220;Ghetto Reggae,&#8221; out Aug. 29. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;The 14-track project pays homage to the iconic reggae sound systems and neighborhood dances that shaped his youth\u2014spaces where speakers rumbled, listeners swayed, and the rhythm of Jamaica&#8217;s heartbeat pulsed into the early morning,&#8221; Marie Driven, the Haitian-American co-managing director of the Brooklyn-based entertainment company, PlaybookMG, told <\/span><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Caribbean Life<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> on Tuesday, Aug. 26. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;More than just a collection of songs, &#8216;Ghetto Reggae&#8217; is a curated soundtrack for the kind of movement and feeling that&#8217;s been missing from today&#8217;s scene: slow whining, waistline movement, and that unmistakable energy,&#8221; she added, stating that the album &#8220;masterfully blends rocksteady&#8217;s soulful tempo, lovers rock&#8217;s romantic pull, and dancehall&#8217;s infectious grit into a body of work that&#8217;s both nostalgic and fresh.&#8221; <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Mr. Vegas said, &#8220;This album is my love letter to reggae culture. I wanted to bring back the lost art of grooving to reggae and the joy that comes with it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&#8220;It&#8217;s about preserving the roots while embracing evolution,&#8221; he added. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">While deeply anchored in reggae tradition, Driven said &#8220;Ghetto Reggae&#8221; also stretches beyond genre borders. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">She said &#8220;Grateful,&#8221; produced by Nigerian artist Young Alpha, infuses Afro-Caribbean rhythms with reggae&#8217;s core pulse.
