Though one of their numbers during Worship Service, at Fenimore <\/span>Street<\/span> United Methodist Church (FSUMC), on Sunday, July 20, was “Three Men on a Mountain,” Brooklyn’s Apostolic Voices are just that \u2013 three men on a mountain. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>With their home church at Miller Evangelical Christian Union, 1110 President St. in Brooklyn, the pre-eminent Caribbean-born gospel singers continue to uplift lives spiritually, singing from “on high.<\/span>“<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0On Sunday, they brought that same fervor to the 134-year-old FSUMC, at the corner of Rogers Avenue and Fenimore Street in Brooklyn, enwrapping the congregation with “Many Wonderful Things<\/span>“<\/span> and “I Rest My Case at the Cross.” <\/span><\/p>\n

“Every time I sing for the Lord, I feel better and better,<\/span>“<\/span> Jamaican-born tenor Lloyd Russell told <\/span>Caribbean Life <\/span><\/strong>afterwards. “He gives me the voice, and I use it for His glory.<\/span><\/p>\n

“So, the songs that we sing are not about us; it’s giving God the praise and all the glory, because he deserves it.<\/span>“<\/span><\/p>\n

Russell’s compatriot, Franklin Chue, also tenor and leader, intoned: “We don’t perform; we minister. We are ministers of the gospel. <\/span><\/p>\n

“For me, it’s a blessing to minister to God’s people, and I will do it for as long as He allows,<\/span>“<\/span> Chue added. <\/span><\/p>\n

Richard Nurse, the Barbadian-born bass singer in the group, said: “I always feel great administering God’s word.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s always a pleasure of mine,<\/span>“<\/span> he added. <\/span>“<\/span>The talents that we have are not ours; we use them for God; we use them for His glory. <\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s like the five talents; if we don’t use it, we lose it,<\/span>“<\/span> Nurse continued. <\/span><\/p>\n

The three-member Apostolic Voices was originally a quartet \u2013 Chue, Nurse, Russell, and Perrie Allen. But after about two years, Perrie relocated, and the group became a trio.<\/span><\/p>\n

In October 2023,<\/span> the group also uplifted FSUMC during a three-hour gospel feast and fundraising gospel concert. <\/span><\/p>\n

In the first part of the gospel concert, the group thrilled congregants with “I <\/span>am<\/span> a Child of God,” “Jesus Loves Me,” “They That Wait Upon the Lord,” “Saved by Grace,<\/span>“<\/span> and “Coming Up on the Rough Side.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The Apostolic Voices then returned for the final session in bringing the House down with “Loving God,<\/span>“<\/span> “Take Me Back,<\/span>“<\/span> “I’m Saved,<\/span>“<\/span> “Walk with Me,<\/span>“<\/span> and “Lord, Thank You for Another Day.<\/span>“<\/span><\/p>\n

Chue said his group, which has been ministering in many churches throughout the five boroughs of New York City and Long Island, New Jersey, and Connecticut, said they “love Jesus, believe in God, and enjoy spreading the Word<\/span>“<\/span> with their music ministry. <\/span><\/p>\n

“Ministering the Word through music is a privilege and a blessing we don’t take lightly,<\/span>“<\/span> he told <\/span>Caribbean Life<\/span><\/strong> in a post-show interview. “God blesses us with the talent and ability to sing His words to His people and, hopefully, win souls for His Kingdom.”<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
