New Jersey-based Jamaican-born artist manager Dr. Love says he is making a power move in the music industry that will change the trajectory of his music label.<\/p>\n
Dr. Love, whose real name is Chris Crooks, told <\/span>Caribbean Life<\/span><\/strong> on Monday, May 5, that this follows the success he has garnered, guiding the career of visually impaired dancehall breakout star Nigy Boy. <\/span><\/p>\n Dr. Love said his latest signee is Lavisch, a soulful and versatile singer-songwriter born Brittney Marshall in Jamaica.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cLavisch is a powerful artist that will blow up here in the US and Jamaica,\u201d Dr. Love said. \u201cI <\/span>am<\/span> very impressed with her talent. She can really sing.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cJust as I felt with Nigy Boy, I <\/span>am<\/span> confident she will be a great addition to the MCCS Music label,\u201d he added. \u201cNigy welcomes her to the team. She is a high-caliber artist like him, which is what I was looking for.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Discovered by dancehall legend Bounty Killer at a stage show in Waterhouse, Kingston, Jamaica, Dr. Love said Lavisch received her stage name \u201cdirectly from the Killer after an electrifying performance at just 16 years old.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI remember coming off stage, and Bounty called me back. After that night, we exchanged numbers and had many conversations about music, and he eventually gave me my name, Lavisch,\u201d he<\/span> said. <\/span><\/p>\n Influenced by greats like World Boss Vybz Kartel, Garnet Silk, Etana, and Portugal\u2019s reggae\/dancehall artist Richie Campbell, Dr. Love said, \u201cLavisch blends melodic vocals with conscious, universal messages.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Lavisch said her debut single, \u201cGood Friends Hard to Find\u201d, was produced by Uganda\u2019s Kaz.<\/span><\/p>\n She said her European reach expanded through collaborations with Jugglers Records. <\/span><\/p>\n Lavisch said her track \u201cIrresponsible\u201d showcased her talent and image through her music video debut. <\/span><\/p>\n Lavisch said she caught Dr. Love\u2019s attention via Instagram and a shared demo clip that was initially sent to Romeish, who has guided the careers of Shenseea and Ding Dong. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThis sealed their partnership,\u201d she said. \u201cI want to bring back the foundation and culture in reggae,\u201d she told <\/span>Caribbean Life<\/span><\/strong>, emphasizing her goal of becoming a \u201cglobal pop-reggae ambassador.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n While comparisons to Koffee have frequently been raised, Lavisch sees herself as part of the same mission \u2014 uplifting through music. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI see not much difference between me and Koffee,\u201d she said. \u201cWe are from one race and the same country, Jamaica.
