Vincy Comedy & Culture Fest New York Edition gets ready for Brooklyn

The Brooklyn-based OverLaugh Organization says Brooklyn is preparing for an “unforgettable evening of laughter, music, dance and Vincentian pride” as the Vincy Comedy & Culture Fest — New York Edition takes center stage on Sat., Oct. 3, 2026.

The event will be held at St. Gabriel Golden Hall, 331 Hawthorne Street, Brooklyn. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the show begins promptly at 7:00 p.m.

Headlining the festival is Collin Butler of Skylarking with Collin, the Vincentian comedian, cultural storyteller, author, and content creator widely recognized as a Caribbean comedy powerhouse.

Renowned for his unforgettable facial expressions, colorful characters, relatable storytelling, and energetic stage presence, Butler told Caribbean Life on Tuesday, Sept. 15, that he will bring his “distinctive brand of Caribbean comedy to the New York audience.”

Besides Butler, the cast includes Maurice Horne, sub-regional Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) King of Comedy; Dr. Koko Spring, Vincentian cultural figure and author; Fya Empress, calypsonian, Soca artist and cultural Ambassador of St. Vincent and the Grenadines; and the United Vincie Cultural Group of Brooklyn.

Popular Vincentian DJ Hailes Castillo will serve as Master of Ceremonies.

“The Vincy Comedy & Culture Fest promises to be more than a comedy show,” Butler said. “It will be a powerful celebration of Vincentian identity and Caribbean culture, combining comedy, music, dance, storytelling and community spirit in one exciting production.”

He said OverLaugh Organization, a Caribbean entertainment and cultural organization founded and led by its president, Cathy St. Hilaire, “creates opportunities for Caribbean comedians, musicians, authors, dancers and cultural performers to showcase their talents while bringing Caribbean communities together at home and throughout the Diaspora.

“With an outstanding lineup of comedy and cultural talent, the Vincy Comedy & Culture Fest—New York Edition is expected to be one of the most exciting Vincentian cultural events in Brooklyn this year,” added Butler, whose work brings Caribbean life, laughter, and heritage to audiences around the world.

Born in the small village of Gorse, along the eastern coast of mainland St. Vincent, and raised in nearby village of Colonarie, Butler transformed the challenges of his early life into a powerful journey of perseverance, purpose, and achievement.

Now based in Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin Islands, he has become one of the Caribbean’s more engaging creative voices, using humor and storytelling to celebrate the language, traditions, personalities, and everyday experiences of Caribbean people.

Through his popular platform, Skylarking with Collin, he entertains a growing international audience with unforgettable characters, cultural stories, comedy sketches, inspirational messages, and his signature facial expressions.

Butler said his relatable storytelling has attracted more than 200,000 followers across social media and established him as a dynamic Caribbean entertainer.

Butler is the author of “Island Adventure: Caribbean Tales,” a collection of 29 stories created to preserve Caribbean memories and introduce younger generations to the region’s rich cultural heritage.

His developing literary works include “The Window into Our Culture”; “Vincy Words”; “Vincy Sayings”; “Vincy Proverbs”; and his deeply personal memoir, “Back of My Mother: From Depression to Glory.”

Butler said he also works closely with OverLaugh Organization to “promote comedy and preserve Caribbean culture through live productions and community events.”

Beyond entertainment, Butler is an experienced hospitality professional who serves as Villa Operations Manager at Virgin Gorda Villa Rentals.

Through every book, performance, production and story, he said he remains “committed to making people laugh, preserving Caribbean culture and inspiring others never to give up.”

On Sept. 13, 2025, patrons attending the New York Edition of the inaugural Vincy Comedy Fest, at St. Gabriel Golden Hall got to find out it was, indeed, a laughing matter, leaving there wanting more.

The legendary comedy team of Earl “Ole George” Daniel, Butler, Kevin Rodriguez and the Agape dramatists gave New Yorkers a belly full of clean but ever so funny Vincentian humor.

Much of the comedy material was heavily based on Vincentian culture.

The show featured, among other skits and stand-up comics, “Lucy,” “Potty,” “Strong Man,” “Big People,” “Jumbie,” “The Jewel Store,” “Shoebido,” “Dr. Death,” “Manifesto,” “Chocolate,” “Rome,” “Sleep on Top,” “Body Confusion,” and “Bakes.”

Before ripping the audience with laughter, Butler disclosed that: “Vincy people really pushed me a lot. The main thing is to push our culture.

“If you’re a proud Vincy tonight, make some noise,” he added, with the crowd reciprocating.
